Sunday Classes
Hand embroidery class fees: Full day classes are $198, two day $379 and three days of any classes are discounted to $514. The fee includes Expo entry on all three days, continuous tea and coffee and Happy Hour on Saturday as well as the class tuition. One-day classes run 10am to 5pm; class time is 6 hours. Machine embroidery class fees: Cath Quinlan’s machine embroidery classes run for 2.5 hours and the fee is $65 which includes Expo entry on the same day of the class. To book machine embroidery classes, click here.
Sunflower ‘Borsollino’ with Elena Kornienko
Create an exuberant silk sunflower brooch. Students will work with pure silk fabrics and learn dyeing techniques. They will also explore a range of different flower making tools and learn the skills to create other flowers such as magnolias, lilies, gerberas and even roses. The class is handwork only.
Class kit contains: Flower making fabrics, wire, glue, brooch pin and use of flower making tools in class.
Students need to bring: a soldering iron 30W (with no less than 7mm hole) , available at Bunnings, sharp scissors, an apron, a toothbrush, flower making tools (if you have any). We recommend that you bring a battery operated table light eg. an LED rechargeable folding craft lamp (optional).

Ribbon Heart with Anna Lang
Join this workshop and stitch this exquisite ribbon heart while learning to create a number of decorative flowers using silk ribbon. Anna will cover guidelines for suitable lengths of silk ribbon and size needed, so that the silk ribbon doesn’t get damaged; how to manipulate the silk ribbon to form the flowers; how to start and finish the silk ribbon and how to work Loop stitch, Ribbon stitch, Detached chain stitch (Lazy Daisy stitch), Straight stitch and French knots using exquisite silk ribbon.
Suits all skill levels from beginners, some knowledge of basic stitches such as chain stitch and straight stitch will be useful.
Class kit contains: silk ribbons, lengths of DMC stranded threads and instructions.
The ribbons will vary in colour slightly due to the hand dyeing process. In case students would like to embroider a second heart a list of the lengths of silk ribbon required per flower type will be included in the kit.
Students need to bring: 30cm square of light cream linen, or silk (overlocked around the edge); 30cm square of Pellon to go behind the background fabric; 9 inch or 23cm embroidery hoop that holds the fabric tightly; No. 18 Chenille needles, No. 7 Crewel needle and No. 7 Milliner Needle (Straw); embroidery scissors; 0.5mm 2B mechanical pencil to trace the pattern; pincushion; notebook and pen; a drinking straw, and a toothpick or satay/kebab stick; magnifier. We recommend you bring a battery-operated task lamp such as an LED folding desk light.

Linen Sachet – Deerfield embroidery with Deborah Love
Make a delightful linen sachet while learning the techniques used in Deerfield embroidery. Deerfield embroidery, developed from European crewel work in the village of Deerfield, in western Massachusetts, USA, in the 19th century. Deborah’s sachet design features the characteristic colour scheme. A selection of blue hues on white linen with a variety of crewel surface stitches, giving a taste of the simplicity and style of this fresh blue and white embroidery. Handwork only.

Class kit contains: White linen fabric with design traced in pencil, instructions and a picture.
Students need to bring: Threads: one skein each of DMC stranded thread No. 800, No. 792, No. 793, No. 794.
Needles: pack of Crewel No. 7 and No. 8. Wooden embroidery hoops: 4 inch and 6 inch; embroidery scissors, mechanical pencil, magnifiers if needed.
We recommend that you bring a battery operated table light eg. an LED rechargeable folding craft lamp (optional).

Intro to Machine Embroidery: In-The-Hoop Daisy Pocket Pouch with Cath Quinlan (2.5 hour morning session)
10am to 12.30noon, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
The Daisy Pocket Pouch is a double-sided bag that will show you two different methods of inserting zips in the hoop. The entire bag is stitched on the embroidery machine with some creative quilting and monograming. The inside is fully lined with two complete compartments to store all your accessories for your next day out. This class is all machine work. Hoops and Singer Embroidery machines will be supplied for students’ use. Fee: $65 (plus $25 kit fee)

Class kit contains: Fabric, stabiliser, embroidery threads & Bobbin Fill (for in class use only), two zippers & pulls, two swivel clasps.
Students need to bring: thread snips, tweezers, fabric scissors, sticky tape

Intro to Machine Embroidery: In-The-Hoop Emmy Doll with Cath Quinlan (2.5 hour afternoon session)
1.30pm to 4.00pm, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
The ITH Emmy Doll is a project designed for the ultimate beginner to the fun-loving experienced machine embroiderer. Learn to embroider on the Singer EM9305, applique in the hoop, add ribbon and hair and create a turn through project that is finished in a jiffy.
All dolls will have individual colouring. No special requests taken. This class is all machine work. Hoops and Singer EM9305 machines will be supplied for students’ use. Fee: $65 (plus $25 kit fee)
